Forsyth County authorities are searching for a convicted sex offender with ties to the county who escaped from a work program in neighboring Gwinnett County on Tuesday.
David Bremen Walker, 46, has family ties in north Forsyth County and could be headed to the county, the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office said in a press release.
Walker has been in prison for child molestation and was in Gwinnett County on unrelated charges when he escaped from a work release program.
Manhunt under way for potential 'Blue Jean Bandits'
A manhunt was under way Tuesday morning along Ga. 400 in Forsyth County for suspects in a foiled burglary attempt at a high-end clothing store in Dawson County, authorities said.
About 5:20 a.m., a private security guard at the North Georgia Premium Outlets in Dawsonville spotted a silver van backed up to the doors of the Saks Fifth Avenue, a store that had been hit a few weeks ago by smash-and-grab burglars who stole several thousand dollars in blue jeans, Dawson sheriff's Sgt. Tony Wooten said.
"The suspects in the van, we believe, observed the security guard and started leaving the outlet mall," Wooten said.
Emergency crews from the city of Milton and Forsyth County were working at 2:45 p.m. to rescue a construction worker trapped in a collapsed trench.

The new jail is estimated to cost about $60 million, and plans to issue bonds to cover the expense are expected to be put before Forsyth County voters in November.
A 32-year-old Dahlonega man died early Friday in a one-vehicle crash in north Forsyth County.
The victim, identified as Stephen Boone Roberts, was pronounced dead at the scene. The accident, on Ga. 400, just south of Ga. 306, happened around 1 a.m.

Authorities suspect foul play may be involved in the disappearance of a 32-year-old Forsyth County man.

Roswell man killed when motorcycle hit truck in Forsyth
A 36-year-old Roswell man was killed Friday when his motorcycle collided with a truck in Forsyth County.
The victim was identified by Forsyth County sheriff's deputies as Hyosun Son.
David Garrison, a traffic investigator with the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office, said Son was headed south on Hwy. 9 when a wreck in the northbound lane knocked a Ford F-150 into his path.
I was driving up 400 and a cop stopped me for speeding. There was traffic to my right so I pulled over to the left against the median wall. The officer was agitated with me and I didn't like his attitude. I couldn't pull over to the right because of the traffic. What should I have done? Was I dumb to do that?
Dear Dummy:
Having been there myself, I'm guessing the officer was a bit on the agitated side knowing that he was about to be run over. The only thing that would fit in that lane is a clown car so I'm sure half of yours and the cop's car, which of course is behind yours and will be the first one hit, was sticking out there to be hit by one of our fine drivers who just may be on his or her cell phone, texting something insignificant that could have waited.
